All Saints Day

Scriptures

Psalm 34:1-10, 22

Revelation 7:9-17

1 John 3:1-3

Matthew 5:1-12

“Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever!” says verse 12 of the 7th chapter of the book of Revelation

On this day each year, we remember our saints, those who have gone on to God before us

But I ask you, at this time, not to allow sadness into your hearts

Yes, we miss those who were on the reflection list, and we might become sad that they are no longer with us…that is not my intention, nor the intention of the global church

No, our intention is to remind ourselves that they are among saints like these… (see Multitude.jpg)

That they all endured the trials and tribulations of life on earth, just as we currently are

That they were called to be in a picture similar to this one for all of eternity

To remind ourselves that THIS is the goal of a life well lived

Not the big house, that fancy car, the glamorous life we see on television and the web

THIS is the forever that we are chasing

All tribes, languages, skin colors, all ways of life

All glorifying the one who shed his blood so that our robes will, one day too, be dazzling white

Dazzling white in sinless perfection…THAT is the objective of life on earth

A life well lived ends in a picture like this…all of us free from sin and all of earth’s temptations

A life with no hunger, no thirst, no pain, no suffering of any kind

For the Lamb guides all of them, and us, to springs of the waters of life

Our hope in God is what purifies us…and it must also fuel us

This glorious kingdom of heaven and the spiritual comfort that it will bring

The gifts of the earth while we are here, God’s mercy, to know where Children of God go when they pass on from here

And while we are here, we are to magnify the Lord…to be radiant and never ashamed of Him

To do so by keeping our tongues from evil, to keep our lips from speaking deceit…

To depart from evil…to do good and to seek peace…at all times, and in every way.

Rejoice!  Rejoice, I say!  Look, those who have passed are with Christ!  Praise Him!  AMEN
